There is a great amount of laws and regulations in reference to pets. We are listing below some of the most important links and laws which can affect all cat breeders.

MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT

According to Article 1 of Royal Decree 391/1992 “it shall be understood that a pedigree animal is [...] and registered in a genealogic book or registry managed by an officially recognized breeder association or organization”.

Said Decree also regulates the official recognition for pedigree animal breeder organizations or associations which manage or create genealogic books.

GENERALITAT DE CATALUNYA - NATURE PROTECTION COUNCIL

In the Generalitat de Catalunya's website we will be able to find everything related to animal protection, identification, passports, etc.

One of the laws, and probably the most important, that has been recently approved in Catalonia, through which almost all regulations in connection to pets becomes linked, is the Law 22/2003 of 4 th July on animal protection.

This law establishes, among other things, the compulsory registration of animals as well as the registration of Animal Breeding Areas by the breeders.
